pay atTENtion!, presented by TCU Financial Group, is a project for current Financial Literacy 10 students to explore curricular outcomes by sharing a financial lesson to improve the well-being of people in Saskatchewan.
Students can win prizes, and schools will be entered into a draw for $500 toward their Financial Literacy budget!

Project Overview
pay atTENtion! challenges Saskatchewan Financial Literacy 10 students to create a public-service announcement to help Saskatchewan people understand the link between finances and their well-being.
Products should be concise, creative, and presented in a way that is easily understood by a viewer. Possibilities include:
- a 30-second video advertisement
- a 30-second audio/radio/podcast advertisement
- a poster
- a brief brochure, etc.
Project themes must be connected to the new provincial Financial Literacy 10 curriculum. Connections can be found in:
- “Risks with lotteries, gambling (e.g., online sports betting, Video Lottery Terminals)” 10.2
- “Fraudulent activity (e.g., theft, scams, fake reviews)” 10.2
- High-risk financial loans impacting mental health 10.2
- “The addictive nature of spending” 10.2
- Credit troubles impacting mental health 10.8
- Ensuring secure payments (in-person or online) 10.9
- Protecting personal information (at home or online) 10.9
- An unhealthy financial habit that can impact a person’s well-being

Students are encouraged to be creative with their project, and they should consider how their product will engage and inform their audience.

Semester 2, 2024
Eligibility
- This contest is open to Saskatchewan students who are enroled in Financial Literacy 10 in the 2024-2025 school year.
- Only one entry per Finanacial Literacy 10 class is allowed.
- The entry could be chosen by a teacher, through peer assesment, or by a volunteer.
- Some teachers participating in the Student SaskMoneyMinute project asked their students to view all class projects and then complete a vote on the top choice. This option can be a beneficial learning experience and opens an opportunity for peer-assessment!
- More than one class per school may enter.
- One entry per student including those working in a group.
- A student in a class that is not participating in this project may enter individually with help from their teacher.
Note: Students who are not eligible may be able to enter the Student SaskMoneyMinute project!
Deadline
June 3, 2025. (Semeseter 1 projects can be submitted at the end of January)
Submission Guidelines
- Projects can be created in many different mediums, but they must be simple advertisements that are easy for an audience to interact with. ie.) 30-second video advertisement, Poster, Brief Brochure, 30-second Audio/Radio/Podcast advertisement, etc.)
- Projects must be able to be shared online (mp4, mp3, PNG, PDF, etc.)
- If music is used in a digital product, it must be copyright-free.
- If the use of logos of financial institutions is necessary, please feature TCU Financial Group.
- If creating a 30-second video, students do not have to appear on camera! Animations, closed captioning, voiceovers, and other creative techniques can be used to deliver a strong message effectively and creatively.
- A consent form must be completed allowing the product to be shared online and branded with project and sponsor logos.
Submission Process
- Teachers with students completing this project in a class:
- Teachers will fill out a Google Form to inform SaskMoney of how which project will be submitted from their class.
- Teachers not submitting a class project but with individual students who are submitting on their own are asked to fill out the Google Form.
- Students are responsible for project submission:
- Ensure your teacher has completed their Google Form.
- Students will complete a separate Google Form including a list of sources of borrowed content, and information identifying your group members (if applicable).
- Once online forms have been received, students will receive a Dropbox link to upload their content (video file and media release form).
*Google Form links will be available at the end of Semester 1.
Prizes and Judging
- At the deadline, a group of volunteer judges will choose the five most successful projects from across the province.
- Prizes winners will each receive $100 (distributed via etransfer).
- If students enter as a group, one prize will be awarded for the group to share.
- Participating schools will be entered into a draw for $500 toward their Financial Literacy budget!

- Each prize winner’s project will be shared on SaskMoney.ca and on social media.
